About MouseTest
MouseTest is a free collection of browser tools for checking a computer mouse: buttons, double clicks, the scroll wheel, polling rate, DPI, click speed, accuracy and drag behaviour.
What the site is
MouseTest is a small, independent site with one purpose: checking a mouse. Every tool here is one we would use ourselves, and all of them are free.
Why we built it
A mouse rarely fails all at once. A switch starts double clicking once a day, the wheel skips now and then, a side button stops responding. These faults are hard to prove by feel, and most people only want a straight answer: is it the mouse or is it the computer?
Each test on this site isolates one behaviour and shows the raw numbers, such as the milliseconds between two clicks or the reports received per second, so you can decide for yourself and show the evidence to a seller or a support agent.
How the tests work
Every test runs in your browser using standard web APIs for mouse, pointer and wheel events. The numbers you see are measured on your own device. Because a browser sits between the mouse and the page, some readings, polling rate in particular, are estimates and can vary slightly between browsers. Where that matters, the page for that test explains the limits.
Nothing you click, scroll or type inside a test is sent to our servers. See the privacy policy for details.
Corrections and feedback
If a test gives a result that looks wrong on your hardware, or an explanation on the site is inaccurate, tell us through the contact page. Include the mouse model, operating system and browser so we can reproduce it.
